| James proposed to me. ^_^ He proposed on New Years when it became 2009. I was surprised when I went in for a kiss and found a ring in front of me instead. Yay. Now I hope my last semester goes well and the wedding plans won't interfere. (I really can't let them interfere because we decided we wouldn't get married until I graduate, which will be after my internship in the summer. I don't graduate, we don't get married.) | | |
| So if no one heard, a storm came through Columbus, MS Tuesday morning around 3 AM. I believe it right over our duplex Tiffany and I are renting out. It woke me up, it seemed like we had our own little War of the Worlds in our backyard. The power of course was out by then. Then all of a sudden, a flash of lightning and not even a second later a clash of thunder. Seconds later the whole house shook. Tiff and I walked around the house to see if everything was okay and everything seemed alright. We decided to go back to sleep. I had work that morning so I checked outside to see if everything was alright outside. I couldn't find anything but I didn't look that long. As I came home from work, Tiffany called and said we had a leak in the kitchen. I told her when I got home that we would call the landlords. As soon as I got home and parked, I saw why we had a leak and that one of the glass light globe was filled with water. There was a fucking huge oak tree leaning on the house. Don't know how I didn't see it before work. Here are some pictures:
As you can see, the deck in the backyard kind of saved the house from being hit any worse. The tree trunk is leaning on the stairs to the top, we are pretty sure that lightning hit where there is that broken branch, and the branch ended up taking out some the support poles of the deck by the kitchen sliding glass door and our bikes. So we called the landlords to check it out and when he came over, he checked to see what was causing the leak. He went into the attic and discovered about a 3 foot branch had broken through the roof. There is the cause of our leak. So right now we have tree people at our place trying to get rid of all the branches and most likely the tree itself. (Pretty big tree though) After that we have roof people going to eventually patch up the roof and get rid of the water in the kitchen and fix any other leak they find, though tonight all they can probably do is cover it with plastic. And when I went home temporarily today because we got out of class early, there was a Atmos Engergy gas guy there said that someone called about smelling gas at our property. Fun, fun, fun... So let's see how the rest of the week goes.
Edit: Also if you didn't know, Tiff and I had decorated for Halloween and it did look pretty good, but everything went pretty much to shit after the storm. If you would like to see the pictures before the storm, check them out at my photobucket: Halloween Pictures 2008
Maybe we will put them back up, but we aren't for sure yet. | | |

| Woot, going to Florida on Sunday. It will be so weird not having work for 10 days. I won't want to go back since this is the most days I have ever had off. Anyways, I may post another entry while I am down there, but most likely wait until I come back. Ja matta! Oh and also, I am writing this post on my new laptop. Yay. | | |
